I Don’t have an inside voice, Please Stop asking me to use it!

Organizing Daddy May 28, 2009

I have loved making crafts since I was little. I made crafts for every holiday, season, or when I was bored. In 1978 I made my grandfather a pencil holder. When he passed away, my mom gave it to me and I use it to this day. I also had my girls make their dad a pencil holder for Father’s Day, which he still uses.

Pencil holders are very easy to make and you need three items: a small can, glue, and Popsicle sticks.

Glue Popsicle sticks all around can, let dry over night.
Optional- Add stickers, paint, or leave plain. Make sure you date it with a permanent marker.

I love sharing craft ideas with you, so please leave a comment if you like this.

Ugly Babies May 21, 2009

On May 15th I was blessed with a new niece, Alanna Marie, 7 LBs and so beautiful! Now I’m not just saying it because she’s my niece. Remember the Cone Heads from Saturday Night Live? Not her head…it’s perfect, like a little Cabbage Patch. How about the babies that look like they’re 180 years old, all wrinkly and blotchy? Not her, Alanna’s skin looked like she was ready for an infant pageant. On top of that, the night she came home she slept for almost 5 hours straight and only cries (if you want to call it that) when she’s hungry or needs to be changed.

4334_1100048714410_1622431501_244555_6363125_sI do thank god she’s beautiful. What would you do if you went to see someone who just had a baby and they weren’t that cute? Remember the Seinfeld episode? Let’s face it, most newborns are not beautifully cute- they need to get to room temp for at least a week or two, and dry out after being in fluid for 9 months. We all will say our babies were beautiful the day they were born, but will we admit that we thought while we were pregnant…” OMG, Please don’t let me have an ugly baby“. When they’re born, our hormones are so screwed up, I don’t think it would really matter…what are you going to do, give it back. The elephant man had a mommy too! At this point you say it’s the beauty within that counts.

Too harsh? It’s the truth so fess up! Tell me your baby fears (and we’re not talking health or 10 fingers and toes) that would be a no brainer.

Back to Alanna- the Beautiful Baby 🙂

I’m going to let you in on a secret, I was hoping she would be a pain in the ass….just like her father…hehe. Not that I would want to cause her mom any problems (I do like her) but it’s always fun to sit and watch other people go through the pains of raising a child (Not serious pains just those that you can say been there done that). I do have plans for her to be treated like a princess, bitch her up a little…if you’ve read my post about my nephews, you’ll know that I love all my nieces and nephews and love to spoil the crap out of them. I guess I’ll have to wait til this one is at least 6 months to get her going in the right direction. UMMM yes I’m devious.

Can’t wait to read your comments!

Yanni Voices Leaves Mother In-Law Speechless May 10, 2009

I was one of the lucky bloggers who was given Yanni Voices tickets with backstage passes. My mother in-law (Yanni’s biggest fan) and father in-law had already purchased tickets (Floor, 5th row). I decided to take my MIL with me so she would be able to come to the Meet and Greet. I packed my camera, video camera, photographer (My FIL), and my videographer (My husband) and headed into the concert.

I had met Ender and Nathan in Nashville at Blissdom09 and couldn’t wait to talk with them again along with meeting Chloe and Leslie. Having been to see Yanni before, I noticed this time there was a much younger crowd present. All waiting with anticipation to see and hear the Voices of Yanni.

I was amazed in the first 10 seconds of the show starting. You can’t help but to get sucked right in as the orchestra creates their heart pounding music.

The Voices- Can you say talented and HOT! These four “kids” are all gorgeous and their voices, all so different, will make you fall in love with them.

Nathan sings in Italian, reminds me of a young Andrea Bocelli. Ender sings in Spanish and dances with Chloe in black leather pants.  You hear the screams of the girls all around you….If only I was 20 again!!

Leslie and Chloe sing their hearts out, changing dresses with each song. By the way, there are a few dresses I’d like to borrow!! Not to mention the shoes. Their talent and stage presence was as if they’ve been doing this for twenty years!

Watching how Yanni looked at them, so proud of their accomplishments, you can can he too was impressed. You can see and feel his passion for his music and for his “Voices”.

The best part was actually watching my mother in-law’s face as she waited to meet everyone. We finally walked into the room and her face light up as they all came up to her. The Voices couldn’t have made her feel any more special and they were so humble as they thanked us for coming to the show. Imagine that, them, thanking us! My Mother In-law was in awe and we have her on tape actually speechless. This is ungeard of in my family- we are never speechless. I have just made daughter in-law #1- Yay me!!

My MIL thought Nathan was so cute that she asked if he had a girlfriend- she was ready to fix him up with her granddaughter(my daughter). Always thinking of the grandkids…hehe. She also kept calling Ender “the little blonde boy”, she really liked him. Check out our backstage experience in the video below!

Thanks to my husband “The Sicilian” for taking the video and to my Father-in-law for taking all the pictures!

We’d love to hear what you think- so don’t be shy- leave a comment!!

**Disclosure: I have recieved tickets and promotional items for Yanni Voices. This however, did not affect my review in any way. All parties understand that an honest opinion would be given, no matter what the outcome.
